However, it would not support copying files from the network. The program is capable of integrating with the Windows Explorer making it easier to use. Great review! Happy New Year ! I have a question Raymond, is it worthwhile to use Teracopy in Windows 8 Pro 64 bit? Running a quick test under identical conditions to the article, Teracopy on Win 8 x64 completed test 1 in seconds, 32 seconds up on what Win 8 managed by itself. It will improve things slightly but Win 8 is horribly slow compared to Win 7 and even XP.
Even Fastcopy took seconds so it seems Win 8 simply struggles with certain file transfers whatever software you use. Unlikely, but worth asking. The only patch since is a minor one for Windows Defender. Just ran test 1 on Win 8 with Total Commander x64 8. A similar run in Win 7 produced a result 3s seconds quicker than the default copy of s. Well, that cinches it then, another Win8 disappointment.
I thought to myself wow look at Win 8 first time ever I seen a different file transfer by Microsoft. So what do you guys suggest I use to replace Win 8 file transfer? FastCopy or Teracopy? Which is more stable hehe…. Yeap, obviously disabling the Security Essentials part of Windows Defender will make a difference and in the test it was around 50 seconds faster which is quite a bit. This is why it was tested with default settings or else I would be here all day just tweaking Windows! XP3, copying a 1.
Way to many programs running in the background. Computer is old enough that it might even be via USB1. Teracopy 2. At first it works after few hours seems to stop working. I will try restart system later but right now to me it is buggy. Weird but still this to me means its slightly buggy. No pc restart was needed. Nice Article. A nice copy software.
Thanks for the adtional info…!!! Good article. Thank you for the write up Raymond as it makes for interesting reading, i discovered Teracopy awhile back and was initially happy with better transfer speeds. Thank you Ray. Blythe 3 months ago. You can copy it on any USB flash drive or other devices, and take it with you whenever you need to copy files or folders on the breeze, without having to go through installation steps. Although you may expect something really innovative, it's not, and Fast Copy Paste is actually a separate interface for the same Windows copying tool we're all using.
The program is relatively faster compared to the Windows copy function. Best of all, it does not clog the Windows file cache as the files are used just once. With more than 60 configuration choices, it is completely configurable. Moreover, it offers support for several languages with complete support for English and Polish languages.
Queue support, automatic restart of all pending operation after a system reboot, and syncing capability with Windows explorer are among its other major features. Apart from copying or moving files from one location to another, Teracopy also tries to recover any copy error. However, if it fails to recover the error in any case, it simply skips the faulty file, without aborting the complete transfer. Alternatively, it can also hold on for the network or the device to reconnect.
It can skip the irrelevant files to cut down the transfer time. It also identifies any errors during the process and enables to solve the issue by copying the affected files again. Once the files are copied, the software authenticates the files to make sure that they are the same by analyzing the hashes of the source and the destination files.
This helps you to avoid moving folders to another location, unintentionally. Best of all, it can save the previously used directories, while showing the folders that are open in the Explorer as well as in the file managers. Ability to export files in HTML and CSV formats, save the actual date and time of the file copying, or deleting any irrelevant files and folders, are among its other significant features.
While Ultracopier is known for its fast performance, it also boasts an attractive interface that comes loaded with features and responsive design. This helps you transfer any files to your preferred location. For this, you would need to specify an input and output directory. As the tool is launched, you can view the complete size of the folder and the size of the file that has been recently shifted.
In addition, you can also view the complete list of the files and also the order in which these files have been copied. Windows Windows.
